Affiliate disclosure.
The Kanji Shelf is a participant in the Amazon EU Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.co.uk.
In plain English: when you click a “Check on Amazon” link on this site and then buy something on Amazon, Amazon pays us a small commission. It does not cost you anything extra — the price you pay is the same whether you came from here or from a Google search.
What commissions do not do
Affiliate commissions do not influence what we recommend. No product is included because we earn more on it. No brand has paid to appear on the shelf. We have never been contacted by a brand whose product is listed here, and we have no advertising, sponsorship, or commercial relationship with any of them.
If we recommend a product, it is because one of us — Matthew in Jersey or Yuri in Osaka — has bought it, received it, or had it in the house. The commission is how this shelf exists without us having to sell advertising space or write listicles for traffic. That is the whole trade.
How our links look
Every affiliate link on this site is marked rel="sponsored" on its anchor tag — the standard way to tell search engines that a link is commercial. Links also carry a tag parameter (?tag=...) that tells Amazon the click came from us.
Other questions
If you have a question about our editorial approach, a correction, a product suggestion, or a complaint — email us. We read everything and reply to most of it. Contact via the home page.
